Day 1
Saturday: Home to Sydney
We collect you from your doorstep late this afternoon for the run down to Sydney, where our coach delivers you straight to a hotel at the airport.
Settle in, enjoy dinner together and get an early night. Tomorrow, the adventure really begins.

Day 2
Sunday: Sydney to Norfolk Island
Have the camera handy this morning. We leave early with our crew on hand to help with check in and customs before our flight across to Norfolk Island. Our wonderful team from Pinetree Tours meets us on arrival and escorts us to the South Pacific Resort, our home for the next five nights.
Set in five acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, the newly renovated resort is the largest and most conveniently located hotel on the island, a brief walk from the main shopping township of Burnt Pine and only a short drive from historical Kingston and beautiful Emily Bay. Enjoy a welcome drink and settle into your room to relax, then tonight we head out for a two-course feast at The Bounty Bar and Grill, where the meat and produce all come from the island.

Day 3
Monday: Orientation and the Progressive Dinner
We start the day on a half day orientation tour, taking in key historic areas including Kingston, Cascade and Longridge, with full commentary at every stop. It is the perfect introduction to the island and its wonderfully particular way of life, and a great way to get your bearings before the adventure ahead. Highlights include the renowned Melanesian Chapel and a visit to the grounds of an old island home, where morning tea is served.
This evening brings one of the great Norfolk experiences, the Progressive Dinner. Together with other visitors you enjoy a three-course meal that progresses between island family homes, each one carefully selected and each host with a sensational story to tell about their family’s history and day to day life.
It is a fun night and a wonderful way to meet the local people, leaving you with a true taste of island life.

Day 4
Tuesday: Cyclorama, the Fish Fry and Kingston by Night
Step inside Cyclorama and watch Norfolk Island’s history come to life all around you. Measuring 3.6 metres in height and 50 metres in circumference, this 360-degree painting puts you at the centre of the story, with scenes depicting the voyage and the mutiny on the Bounty and the settlement of the island. Standing in the middle of the panoramic masterpiece, with music, sound, props and 3D illusions enhancing the effect, it is not hard to imagine yourself in the thick of the action. Listen carefully to the soundtrack and you will hear snippets of Norf’k, a language still spoken by islanders to this day.
Tonight is the famous Norfolk Island Fish Fry, an event that has been running for more than forty years. Picture a feast of local dishes, salads and homemade coconut bread alongside mouth watering fried fish, served on our exclusive western side property ‘Orn Dar Cliff’ as the sun sets over the ocean, with live music in the background and entertainment from the Baunti Byuutis dancing group.
The evening finishes at Kingston, where the stillness and the stars are just as they were when the first settlers arrived in 1788, until real life sounds, theatrical lighting and costumed actors bring the convict decades to life on the Sound and Light Show.

Day 5
Wednesday: Bushwalk Breakfast and Convict History
This morning is the bush walk BBQ, and it caters for everyone. Take a gentle stroll through Palm Glen Reserve, or for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5 kilometre walk through scenic Mount Bates, the highest point on the island, to Captain Cook Monument. It stands at the spot where Captain James Cook and his officers landed in 1774 and has spectacular views of the coastline. At the end of the walks, we all meet on the clifftop for a delicious breakfast barbecue, and if you would rather sleep in and skip the walk you are very welcome to join the walkers at the monument and share in the festivities.
Afterwards we go in depth on Norfolk Island’s convict history with a tour of the World Heritage listed Georgian settlement at Kingston, a living showcase of Polynesian, convict and Pitcairn Islander history. We walk through the cemetery and hear the history behind the colonial headstones, pass the old houses along Quality Row, and take in the ruins of the New Gaol, the Pier Store, the Boat Shed and the Crank Mill, all of which must be seen to be believed. Afternoon tea is included, and tonight is an easy one, dining in the restaurant at our accommodation.

Day 6
Thursday: Island Culture and Wonderland by Night
Today we delve into the rich culture and heritage of the island, where the arts of weaving, cooking, dancing and the Norfolk language were inherited from the mutineer ancestors who settled here. On the Island Culture Tour there is a cooking demonstration and a taste of some traditional dishes, a go at Tahitian island dancing, a turn at weaving and a first attempt at the Norf’k language the locals are so proud of. As they say here, Yorlye kam lukorn, everyone come and have a look.
Next is the Bounty Folk Museum, a fascinating collection telling the story of Norfolk Island, from the earliest convicts through to the arrival of the Bounty mutineers and their descendants. There is Bounty memorabilia to discover, early photographs of the Pitcairn settlers, old weapons and handwritten research books to browse.
This last evening together starts with the Barney Duffy BBQ, a hearty feast of steak, sausages and a variety of sides and trimmings, with local guest speakers sharing memorabilia, stories and fascinating insights into the island’s history and governance.
Then comes Wonderland by Night, a Norfolk Island favourite you will not want to miss. Ten acres of magical Norfolk pines are lit up like an enchanted forest, and you meander along the gentle winding path, or ride in the moon buggy, with a descendant of the Bounty mutineers reciting poems, lighting the dioramas and sharing entertaining stories, before returning to the shed for a delicious dessert.

Day 7
Friday: Norfolk Island to Home
One last meal together over breakfast, sharing the week’s experiences and picking up that final souvenir, before we head to the airport to check in and fly back to Sydney. Our coach is waiting on the other side to take everyone home to the front door.
