Get in early for some Christmas shopping as we head to Maitland Community Markets with morning Tea provided on arrival, stroll through the hundreds of indoor and outdoor stalls with entertainment areas and quiet spaces. Tonight, we head to the largest light display in the Southern Hemisphere. First, we'll stop in Maitland for a 2-course roast dinner at a local club, then head to the Hunter Valley Gardens for the Christmas light spectacular. This isn't your average light display—it's massive, with 3 million more lights this year and over 20 immersive displays! Highlights include the 5-meter-tall Magic Castle, the whimsical Tunnel of Hearts, and walking through Snowy the Snowman or a giant Christmas bauble.

Banana Cabana Primate Sanctuary

Tucked into the leafy surrounds of Dural, Banana Cabana Sanctuary has offered a safe and quiet home to retired monkeys for over 40 years. The residents here may be slower these days, but each one has a story. Many spent their lives helping to educate, entertain or support important research. Today, they enjoy peaceful days in the care of those who know each of them by name. We’ll stop for morning tea along the way, followed by a Devonshire tea lunch provided at the sanctuary. Before heading home, we also visit Swaine’s Nursery next door, where you can explore the gardens.

Vivid Sydney

If you’ve never seen Vivid Sydney before, this is the year to do it. Celebrating its 16th outing in 2025, Vivid transforms the city with lights, music and colour. We'll cruise Sydney Harbour onboard a Captain Cook vessel, enjoying a relaxed four-course à la carte dinner and live entertainment while the skyline glows around us. A fully licensed bar is available on board. After disembarking, and road closures permitting, we’ll continue the experience with a coach tour of key light precincts before heading home. Today we cruise Sydney Harbour aboard the historic Steam Tug Waratah, built in 1902 and lovingly maintained by the Sydney Heritage Fleet. After a relaxing morning tea stop, we head into the city to board the ship, where we enjoy a peaceful cruise around Sydney Harbour and the Lane Cove River. It’s a chance to enjoy the scenery and marvel at how far transport has come. You can chat to the engineers, watch the steam engine in action and soak up the harbour views. Dungog Tea Party

Today we make our way to Dungog for one of the region’s favourite annual events. After morning tea near Maitland, we visit Clarence Town to view the oldest timber bridge still in use in New South Wales. Then it’s on to the historic James Theatre in Dungog to explore a colourful display of hand-made tea cosies and trivets, all part of the town’s much-loved Tea Party competition. The local shops will be decked out too, bringing the whole community to life. Lunch is a homestyle meal provided by the Uniting Church Ladies Auxiliary.
